In 1990 David Lowe and his wife Patricia
moved to Spain, supposedly to retire. But those who know David
well would question how he could possibly do that when he is forever
in demand for up-dating his many books and coming up with yet more
new works.
Whilst their life in Spain was enjoyable and extremely
interesting, after seven years the call of family back at home,
health worries and increasing writing commitments, persuaded them
to return to England in 1997. But this sojourn in the sun was not
in vain. Many good things came out of it, not least a memoir; ‘Gherkins
in the Woodpile – Reflections on Life in Spain’, which
David finally got round to completing in 2008 after sitting on
a pile of notes and diary entries from the early days of 1990-91.
The book has been published privately, mainly for
family and friends, but copies are available at the extortionate
price of £20 per copy (post free) for anybody who would be
interested in reading it. It is especially recommended for anybody
thinking of setting up a new life in Spain.
The book is A5 format spiral bound with soft covers.
It comprises 90 pages of text with 24 pages of colour photographs
taken by the author. |
